Other Churches Festivals

The original idea behind the Cotswold Churches Festival started with the aim of encourgaing churches, especially in rural areas, simply to commit to being open to visitors over a specific time period. However, many churches went one stage better than this by staging a whole variety of events, including concerts, exhibitions, readings and demonstrations - and even saw one church making itself the centre of community life by showing a series of 'singalong' movies, including Mamma Mia and High Society ! This was followed by the Jubilee Churches Festival in 2012 in which over 70 churches took part. These churches were often involved with a range of events prompted by the Jubilee celebrations, including the Royal Beacons, the Big Lunch, and even hosting live broadcasts on big-screens of the National Service of Celebration on what became known as 'Jubilee Tuesday'.
To coincide with the Cotswold Churches Festival, the churches in the Chilterns will be hosting their own Chilterns Churches Festival. This starts on 11th May, but runs through to 26th May. For more information about this Festival and perhaps combining visits to events being staged by these churches with those taking place in the Chilterns, please visit our special website, www.chilternschurchesfestival.org, for more information.
